06 Jun Build Up Tassie builds a future
“I am 22 years old and I live locally in Bridgewater. I am an active job seeker. I have been part of Build Up Tassie for six months.
What appeals to me is to work in property in a people-orientated role. In the past I have worked on a building site as a labourer.
At Build Up Tassie I’ve been supported with:
- an 8-week Orientation Program
- one-on-one individual case management with the Build Up Tassie Project Officer
- an admin internship with Centacare Evolve Housing via the Youth Jobs PaTH program.*
- casual paid employment five days per week in Centacare Evolve Housing reception, dealing with tenant’s property issues and general inquiries.**
I’m really looking forward to gaining a more permanent property-related role based on the experience I had through Build Up Tassie.”
*the Youth Jobs PaTH program provided a $200 top-up per fortnight on Joshua’s Newstart Allowance, and $1000 to his employer to host his internship paid by the Australian Government Dept. of Jobs and Small Business.
**An Employer wage subsidy of $10,000 applies for hiring a young person like Joshua who is registered as job-active. Employer wage subsidies of $6,500 to $10,000 are based on eligibility and assessment by the Australian Government Dept. of Jobs and Small Business.
